Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his 74th birthday, reaffirming the forum’s support for his administration and its reform agenda.
In a statement issued on behalf of his colleagues at the NSGF, Governor Inuwa Yahaya described President Tinubu’s leadership as bold, focused and crucial to Nigeria’s long-term political and economic stability.
He said the president had shown strong determination since assuming office by pursuing major reforms aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy and strengthening critical institutions.
According to the governor, although some of the policy decisions may be difficult in the short term, they are necessary to build a more stable, productive and prosperous country.
He noted that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda has continued to inspire confidence among Nigerians by providing a clearer pathway for inclusive growth, national unity and sustainable development.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the people of Gombe State, alongside other governors in the North, remain fully committed to supporting the president’s vision and ensuring the success of his policies across the country.
“The bold and courageous decisions taken by Mr President reflect leadership driven by conviction and a genuine desire to secure a better future for the nation. These reforms, though challenging, are already laying the groundwork for lasting progress,” he said.
The NSGF chairman also emphasised the governors’ unified support for the continuation of President Tinubu’s reform programme beyond the current administration.
He said the North deeply appreciates the president’s support for subnational governments and his inclusive style of governance, which he noted has helped strengthen cooperation between the federal and state governments.
“We in Gombe State, together with our colleagues in the Northern States Governors’ Forum, acknowledge and deeply appreciate your support to subnational governments and your inclusive approach to governance. We stand firmly with you and reiterate our full and unflinching support for your leadership and vision, not only for the present but also for the continuity of your transformative agenda into a second term,” the governor stated.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya prayed for good health, wisdom and strength for President Tinubu as he continued to lead the country through a period of economic reform and national rebuilding.
The message joins a wave of tributes from political leaders and stakeholders across the country in honour of the president’s 74th birthday.
FRSC Foils Vehicle Fraud in Gombe, Recovers Car Stolen Since 2021

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has intercepted an attempted vehicle fraud at its National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) office in Gombe, leading to the recovery of a car reported missing over four years ago.
The development was made known in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by the Corps Public Education Officer, Mr. Osondu Ohaeri.
Mr. Ohaeri explained that the incident occurred on April 16 during a routine number plate revalidation exercise when an applicant sought to convert a vehicle’s registration documents. He said officials became suspicious after detecting inconsistencies in the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) provided.
According to him, a detailed verification process exposed irregularities in the records, prompting officers to carry out a physical inspection of the vehicle. The inspection further confirmed discrepancies between the VIN documents and the chassis engraving.
He added that operatives deployed the NVIS database to trace the vehicle’s original owner, identified as Mrs. Cecilia Duru, who was subsequently contacted.
“The rightful owner confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen in Port Harcourt in 2021 and provided credible documents to support her claim,” Ohaeri said.
He noted that the individual who presented the vehicle insisted it was purchased through a third party, a claim that raised further suspicion among officials.
The FRSC spokesperson said the corps acted promptly by coordinating necessary actions that led to the recovery of the vehicle, preventing it from being illegally transferred or concealed.
He emphasised that the successful operation highlights the growing efficiency of the NVIS platform and the corps’ strengthened intelligence capabilities in tackling vehicle-related crimes.
Ohaeri advised prospective car buyers to thoroughly verify ownership details before completing transactions, urging the public to rely on official platforms to avoid being defrauded.
He also reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to enhancing transparency, improving accountability, and ensuring safety on Nigerian roads.
Inuwa Sets Up Street Naming, House Numbering Committee to Boost Urban Planning in Gombe

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the formation of an ad-hoc committee on street naming and house numbering, as part of efforts to strengthen urban planning and improve governance through a more efficient geographic information system.
The development was contained in a statement issued by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli.
The Statement said that the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the approval, said the initiative is designed to establish a coordinated system for proper street identification and house numbering across the state.
According to the statement, the committee will be chaired by Dr. Isa Ibrahim Jalo, the Wazirin Gombe, with key stakeholders drawn from relevant government agencies to ensure a comprehensive and professional approach.
Other members of the committee include the Executive Chairman of the Gombe State Urban Planning and Development Authority (GOSUPDA), Amb. B.M. Samanja; Tpl. Abubakar Uba Jatau and Arc. Ahmed Yahaya from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transportation; as well as representatives of the Gombe Geographic Information System (GOGIS), including Tpl. Muhammad Nasir, Muhammad Aminu Abdullahi, and Sadiq Yahaya.
Also appointed are Sani Lawal Bala of GOSUPDA, while Musa Adamu Kumo, Esq., of GOGIS and David Yohanna of the Ministry of Justice will serve as legal advisers. The Director-General of GOGIS, Dr. Kabiru Usman Hassan, will act as Secretary of the committee.
The appointments take immediate effect.
Governor Yahaya urged members of the committee to leverage their expertise in delivering a well-structured and modern urban addressing system that will support data-driven governance and enhance service delivery.
The move is expected to improve city management, facilitate easier navigation, and strengthen planning processes in line with the administration’s broader vision for sustainable urban development in Gombe State.
Gov. Inuwa Commits ₦77bn to Roads, Inspects Underpass, Key Urban Projects in Gombe

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on Tuesday said his administration has committed more than ₦77 billion to road infrastructure projects aimed at transforming Gombe city and improving economic activities.
The governor disclosed this during an inspection tour of ongoing projects across the state capital on Tuesday, where he assessed the progress of major road networks and urban renewal works.
The projects, according to officials, span key locations including the Shehu Abubakar District, the ongoing city centre underpass, the Yemi Osinbajo Southern Bypass, and the Three Arms Zone.
At the site of the 76.5-metre underpass, Governor Yahaya expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, describing the project as critical to reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity within the metropolis.
“We have committed over ₦77 billion to strategic road infrastructure because we understand that modern roads are the backbone of economic growth and urban development,” the governor said.
“This underpass and the surrounding road network will significantly ease traffic and improve movement within the city.”
He urged contractors to maintain high standards and ensure timely completion of all projects.
The Project Manager of Triacta Nigeria Limited, Imran Amin Khan, said the underpass represents the most extensive tunnel project undertaken by the company.
“This is the largest tunnel project we have handled, and it reflects the ambitious scale of infrastructure development currently ongoing in Gombe State,” he said.
During a visit to the Three Arms Zone, which houses major government institutions, the governor commended the level of work done and reiterated his administration’s commitment to quality execution.
“Funding will not be a problem. We have made adequate provisions to ensure that all these projects are completed without unnecessary delays,” Gov. Yahaya added.
He said the investment in road infrastructure is designed to enhance mobility, boost commerce and support long-term urban development.
Officials of the Ministry of Works told the governor that the projects remain on schedule, with monitoring mechanisms in place to ensure compliance with specifications and timelines.
