TWENTY SIX STEM SCHOLARS RECEIVE OVER #305 MILLION TO STUDY IN MALAYSIA
Twenty-six lectures of higher institutions in Borno have received cheque of over ₦305 million naira for a post graduates studies in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics STEM in Malaysia, courtesy of Borno State Government.
Commissioner Lawan Abba Wakilbe presented the cheque, urging the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors and bring modern ideas back to Borno.
Over 200 students are already studying in India and China with additional funding approved for postgraduate studies in Malaysia due to the hike in a dollar to naira, which gives the total STEM scholarship funds at approximately ₦3 billion naira committed by Borno state government within the last two months.
Commissioner of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Lawan Abba Wakilbe made known state government’s huge investment on education and urged the students to be deliberate with their studies towards making the state proud.
The Executive Secretary Borno State Scholarship Board Dr. Bala Isa praised governor Babagana Umara Zulum for doubling the scholarship allocation for student since assumption in office and urged the students to justify that by their commitment to studies and bringing back to the society.
Representative of the Malaysia Scholarship Dr. Sadiq Abba Aji among other beneficiaries pledged to excel in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics STEM Studies and make Borno proud.
Recognizing the importance of giving back to the society, the beneficiaries are optimistic to making a meaningful impact just as the state government remains committed to making education system in Borno outstanding in Nigeria.
