UNICEF donates N406 medical supplies to Yobe govt

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has handed over $290, 000 (N406 million) medical supplies to the Yobe state government.
The donated medical supplies comprise stainless bowls, digital thermometers, scalpel handles, apron protection plastic, microscopes, binoculars, scalpel blades, and among other supplies to improve healthcare delivery.
Presenting the supplies on Monday in Damaturu, to the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Muhammed Gana, UNICEF Health Manager, who doubles as Borno Field Officer, Dr. Clement Adams, disclosed: “We support the State government to access provided healthcare facilities to improve delivery services in the health sector.

“The healthcare delivery services are in accordance with the global best practices in fighting both maternal and child mortalities.”
The commissioner, while receiving the supplies, said that the UN health agency has demonstrated that it is a dedicated and reliable partner that understands the people’s healthcare needs.
He continued; “Today’s event was the handover of donated medical supplies from UNICEF,” noting that the medical supplies are urgently needed in the State’s healthcare delivery system.”
He noted that interventions in the health sector will also improve the state government’s efforts in the healthcare delivery system.
