Troops serving in the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) have been called upon to discharge their duties professionally in accordance with laid down rules to achieve the mandate of their Mission.
Acting Head of Mission and Force Commander of UNISFA, Major General Benjamin Olufemi Sawyerr, gave the charge while honouring Nigerian Female Air Force Officer Squadron Leader Isetekelepirima Juliet Gogo-Akinrogunde for her outstanding service to the mission.
Extolling her contribution to the Mission, General Sawyerr stated that Squadron Leader Gogo performed her assigned tasks creditably well by ensuring troops’ leave and welfare matters were professionally handled.
Gogo, who recently completed her tour of duty at UNISFA, was deployed as the Leave/Welfare Officer of the Mission. She served the Mission meritoriously for one year, during which time she ensured that troops leave and welfare matters were professionally handled. She also worked tirelessly to ensure all visitors to the remotely located mission were well received.
The Force Commander stated further that Squadron Leader Gogo brought to bear the professional and organizational acumen of a Nigerian Military Officer and did the Nigerian Air Force and Nigeria very proud.
In recognition of her service to UNISFA and peace in the Abyei Box, Squadron Leader Gogo was presented with the UNISFA plaque and Gold Coin for Peace.
The Mission comprises troops from eight countries including; Bangladesh, China, Ghana, India, Nepal, Nigéria, Pakistan, Vietnam as well as staff officers and civilian staff from across the globe.
