Unity in Democracy: Yobe IPAC Appeals for Impartiality in Upcoming LG Elections
In a significant move ahead of the local government elections, the Yobe Chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has made a clarion call for nonpartisanship to the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC).
The State IPAC chairman, Alhaji Umar Jajere, made the call during a press conference in Damaturu and emphasised the importance of conducting the forthcoming elections with integrity and adherence to legal statutes.
The chairman’s message was clear: the electoral process should reflect the fear of God and the letter of the law.
“This appeal comes as a reinforcement of the state’s commitment, under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni, to ensure that the elections are conducted in a manner that is free, fair, and favourable to all.
Alhaji Jajere expressed confidence in the government’s and the citizens’ support for a level playing field for all candidates from the various registered political parties.
He also urged all political entities within the state to step forward with their candidates for the elections scheduled for May 25.
The chairman urged all eligible voters to participate actively in the democratic process by voting en masse for the candidates of their choice.
“This call to action is not just about casting votes but about strengthening the fabric of democracy in Yobe through collective and impartial participation.
