Voice of Nigeria (VON) has welcomed Ramadhan Mpenda, a reporter and news editor from the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC), as part of an exchange program aimed at enhancing its Swahili broadcasts.
Mpenda, who is fluent in Swahili and Arabic, will feature in VON’s 2:00-2:30 PM program on Simple Radio, Radio Garden, and TuneIn Radio. He will also train VON staff in Swahili and share his expertise to improve the quality of VON’s Swahili broadcasts.
The Director General of VON, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating that it aligns with VON’s commitment to creating a positive narrative about Nigeria and Africa. “We are determined to support the efforts of the Minister of Information and National Orientation in restoring trust in public communication,” Ndace said.
The partnership between VON and TBC was reactivated thanks to the efforts of Ndace, TBC’s Director General Dr Ayub Rioba, and the Chargé d’Affaire of the Tanzanian Embassy, Ambassador Judica Naguwa. VON has also revitalized its partnership with Voice of America and plans to expand and strengthen its collaborations with other international media organizations.
Ndace reiterated VON’s commitment to advancing President Tinubu’s vision for a revitalized Nigeria through initiatives that uplift the nation. “Together, let’s pave the way for a brighter, more united future,” he said.
The exchange program is expected to enhance the quality of VON’s Swahili broadcasts and strengthen the ties between Nigeria and Tanzania.
