Zulum Presents Staff of Office to Shehu of Dikwa, Pledges Lasting Peace in Borno

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has presented the staff of office to the Shehu of Dikwa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar Al-Amin El-Kanemi.
According to him, El-Kanemi was appointed on January 30, 2021, by the state government. Zulum. Presenting to the staff of the office on Sunday in Dikwa, he said, “You have the responsibility of leading the people in your chiefdom to ensure peace and unity; without peace, no meaningful development could take place in Dikwa emirate, including the entire state.
The governor, therefore, urged the Shehu to carry his subjects in supporting government programs and policies to improve the living conditions of people.
Zulum, who described the monarch as “peace maker of excellence,” stated, “Priority to the traditional institution will be accorded in mobilising the people for peace and sustainable development of the state.”
He noted that the development of the eight emirates, including Dikwa, aligns with the State’s 25-year development plan and the 10-point transformational agenda.
The governor pledged that by the end of his tenure in office, peace will be fully restored in the state. In his acceptance speech, he commended the governor for following due process in appointing him to become the 13th Shehu of Dikwa.
The Shehu also thanks the federal and state governments for rehabilitating the 85-km Maiduguri-Dikwa road, including the electrification of Dikwa this month.
Besides the reconstruction of the road, the royal father urged the federal government to include the construction of the Dikwa-Marte-Kala/Balge road.The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III; Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Al-Amin Ibn El-Kanemi; and over a dozen emirs from Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Nasarawa, and Kaduna states attended the presentation of the staff of office in the border community with Cameroon.
Other dignitaries that attended the presentation of the staff of office included Senators Mohammed Ali Ndume, Kaka Shehu Lawan, and Mohammed Tahir Monguno, and Amb. Babagana Kingibe.
