Zulum to build barracks for police, immigration services in Borno
Tada JUTHA, Maiduguri
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has ordered the building of barracks for the police and immigration services in Gambouru/Ngala of Borno State.
The two insurgency affected communities are in the border areas with Cameroon, 138 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital.
He lamented that the torched police and immigration barracks by the insurgents are however beyond repair.
Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy, Isa Gusau, stated, yesterday (Wednesday) in Maiduguri that Zulum gave the directives in Gambouru while distributing relief materials and N216.32 million to women IDPs.
Besides the new barracks, the Governor ordered the reconstruction of some buildings at the Nigerian Arabic village including a shopping complex to enhance trade in the border communities.
He, therefore, directed the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement (MRRR) to commence processes toward the construction of new barracks for both the Police and Immigration services.
According to him, the Borno State Geographic Information Service (BOGIS) is to construct a new shopping complex in the town.
“The BOGIS’s Executive Secretary, Adam Bababe is to submit a budget to me for the Gambouru shopping complex project,” he said, stating that the project will be completed by December 2022.
He also pledged to look into other challenges faced by the Federal Government-owned schools by identifying immediate and long term interventions of the state government.
