Jaha empowers 1, 050 youths with tricycles, others in Borno

Hon. Ahmed Jaha, Representing Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza federal constituency at the National Assembly; has empowered 1,050 youths and women with tricycles, grinding and sewing machines.

According to him, the distributed materials and machines, including fridges and electric generators are to restore the livelihoods of the constituents in Borno state.

Presenting the equipment and machines Tuesday in Maiduguri, he disclosed that the distributed materials comprise 400 electric generators, 380 grinding machines, 200 tricycles and an ambulance each to three health centres.

“The distribution of empowerment materials; are based on the merits and needs of our people in their various businesses and trades,” he said; stating that the distributed tricycles and grinding machines could restore their destroyed means of livelihoods during the 12-year Boko Haram insurgency.

He said that the procurement of the over 1,000 machines and materials were funded by the constituency projects, while 25 percent were funded from his salaries and allowances.

“This has to be made clear to you,” he said, while reiterating the constituency projects to restore the livelihoods of the people in Borno state.

Governor Babagana Zulum commended Jaha for the empowerment projects being executed in the federal constituency in south senatorial district.

He noted that the selection of beneficiaries were transparent; and according to the needs of people, they restore their lost means of livelihoods in communities.

“Some of the legislators from this state are not fulfilling their electioneering campaign promises to the people,” he said, stating that Jaha’s constituents should be grateful for the distribution of empowerment materials.

“I wanted the people from the constituency to go back to farmlands and produce their crops and livestock,” he said, stating that as peace is gradually returning to insurgency affected communities the destroyed livelihoods could also be restored.
