Sen Girei hosts childhood friends, associates to grand reception, welcomes new baby

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Senator Abubakar Girei has treated childhood friends, political associates and relatives to a befitting reception to welcome new baby Muhammadu Chubado into his family.
During the event dignitaries from the political circle, traditional institution and the business clime were treated to a sumptuous buffet at the residence of the politician on Sunday.
Speaking during the event, Senator Girei who thanked the attendees said he was overwhelmed with the show of camaraderie and lasting love to him and his family.
He said he named the baby after one of his childhood friends who also named his child after him 36 years ago.
Girei who went down memory lane to regale how different people made their mark in his life noted that he could not forget the various contributions his friends and relatives offered to him while growing.
He said as a result, he has maintained relationship of over six decades with some of his friends adding that the relationship only kept waxing stronger during the years as he kept touch with all categories of friends.
Girei who waxed jovial urged those whom he called ‘mischief makers’ to stop calling the new baby his grandson noting that even at nearly 70, he is strong enough to bear and nurture children.
He noted that in his life he fathered 13 children and has sired no fewer than 33 children belonging to friends, relatives and associates adding that there is honour in shouldering responsibilities.
Friends and political associates who took time to pour accolades on the politician said, Girei is a humble, down-to-earth, benevolent and trustworthy comrade.
They noted that despite being in the elite class, the senator has maintained touch with all his childhood friends and has equally assisted them in numerous ways.
One of the childhood friends of the senator and a chieftain of APC in Adamawa Mr. P. P Elisha who spoke glowingly about the senator, said, they attended the same primary school and since then relationship between them has remained strong and cordial.
“I could not forget the role played by Girei in my life, as my history isn’t complete without the touch of this amiable personality. He is a friend indeed and he attends to the challenges of all of us whenever we came to him.
“His doors are always open to the people, we his friends and even strangers. He maintained such relationship with us even when destiny shot him to national limelight,” he said.
Some of the dignitaries who attended the event include; a gubernatorial hopeful, Umar Mustapha, the Otunba of Ekiti, Mr. PP Elisha, member representing Girei constituency Hon Wakili and a host of others.
