“Our exco members did not resign – Gombe APC
The All Progressive Congress(APC) in Gombe State has countered a social media report that some ward exco members of the party from Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area resigned their positions over the feud between Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje and the State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
The Committee Secretary of Gombe APC, Ambassador Moses Kyari, gave the counter statement at a press conference on Thursday, describing the report as very dangerous and malicious.
In his words, “We invited you this evening as a result of a very dangerous and malicious rumour that was circulating on social media and among the people, that all the members of the eleven wards in Yamaltu/Deba LGA have resigned their party positions in solidarity with Senator Danjuma Goje.
“This is not true but a lie from the pit of hell and like you are just seeing, the people concerned have come to address a press conference.
“The people that supposedly resigned their office came to debunk that allegation and tell the true story of what is actually transpiring.
“The funny part of it is that some of the people whose names appeared on this list are not even in town. Some of them are even sick and do not go out. How did their names arrive at this?
“This only means that it was a rumor and therefore we as a party have received a complaint from the local government that it was a character assassination constituted by certain individuals who are disillusioned in the party to cause disaffection in the party.”
Kyari said the party would set up a committee to look into the matter and after investigating the matter, the party shall take actions by going to court to ensure that those behind the report are brought to book by the laws of the land.
