Gombe Guber: My ambition not worth the blood of any citizen – Gov Yahaya
Governor of Gombe State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s governorship election in the state, Gov Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has stated that his ambition is not worth the blood or well-being of any citizen of the state.
Gov Yahaya, who stated this in a statewide broadcast on Friday ahead of the election, reminded residents of the state of the need to respect people’s diverse political choices and ensure peaceful conduct of the elections.
According to the Governor, the interest, well-being and stability of Gombe State are very paramount and above any personal ambition or partisan consideration.
In his words, “I have always stated that my ambition is not worth the blood or wellbeing of any citizen of Gombe State. Yesterday, I was at the inter-party peace parley to restate our commitment to ensuring the peaceful conduct of the governorship and state assembly elections because I believe we owe it a duty to our state to leave a legacy of peace, development and progress.
“I am therefore appealing to all politicians and groups to desist from any acts or utterances capable of jeopardizing the peace and stability of our dear State.”
He commended the people of the state for their excellent conduct during the presidential and National Assembly elections and urged them to continue on the path of peace, tolerance and mutual respect, adding that “Election is not a do-or-die affair, and electoral contests should not be the basis for political bitterness, ill-will and violence.”
