Governor Buni Urges Unity Beyond Sentiments, Promotes Education Growth
Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has called on the people of the state to reject socio-cultural, religious, and political sentiments that could undermine their unity. Speaking at a reception honoring Barrister Baba Dala Fika, recently conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Buni emphasized the need for unity and collective growth.
He highlighted his administration’s commitment to fostering inclusivity for all Yobe indigenes, stating, “We will not allow differences in culture, religion, or politics to determine our unity.”
Governor Buni also reiterated his dedication to prioritizing education as a key driver of development. His administration has made significant investments in education, including paying examination fees and sponsoring over 500 law graduates to the Nigerian Law School in the past four years. In 2024 alone, the state sponsored 221 law graduates, each receiving N475,000 and a laptop to support their studies.
Buni further noted the success of other government-sponsored students, including 171 graduates from India in fields such as Medicine, Engineering, and Computer Science. Over 38,000 students from Yobe are currently receiving government support for higher education in Nigeria and abroad, with more scholarships offered to students in countries like the UK, USA, and Egypt.
He concluded by expressing gratitude to the people of Yobe for their continued support of his policies, which have enabled the state’s educational and infrastructural advancements.
