Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has congratulated Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and other newly affirmed members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing their emergence at the party’s National Convention in Abuja as a strong sign of unity and stability within the ruling party.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the smooth emergence of the new leadership through a consensus process reflected the APC’s growing internal harmony and collective resolve to strengthen its structure ahead of future political contests.

He described Prof. Yilwatda as a vibrant and visionary leader with the intellect, energy and political temperament needed to guide the party into a new phase of growth and consolidation.

According to the governor, the APC National Chairman embodies the kind of progressive leadership capable of inspiring confidence within the party and among Nigerians.

“Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda represents the new face of progressive leadership. He is dynamic, forward-looking, and deeply grounded in the ideals that define our great party,” Governor Inuwa said.

He added that Yilwatda’s emergence shows that the APC remains committed to renewal, reform and staying connected to the hopes and expectations of the Nigerian people.

Governor Inuwa further noted that the new chairman brings a rich blend of academic distinction, administrative experience and political understanding to the office, saying his early performances in the role have already shown promise.

He said Yilwatda’s appreciation of technology and innovation would also help reposition the party and strengthen its relevance in a rapidly changing political environment.

The governor also said the emergence of the new NWC points to a fresh phase for the APC, one that should focus on broadening inclusion, reinforcing discipline and sustaining the party’s democratic culture.

He urged party leaders, stakeholders, and members across the country to support the new leadership in order to preserve unity, maintain stability, and prepare the party for future electoral success, especially as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who also serves as the Renewed Hope Ambassador and Secretary for Party Outreach and Engagement, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his strategic leadership and stabilising role in the success of the convention.

He said the president’s guidance was instrumental in building consensus, strengthening the party’s internal structures and keeping the APC on a path of cohesion and national political relevance.

Sallah Homage: Emir Hails Inuwa’s Leadership, Says Gombe Witnessing Unmatched Transformation

By Auwal Ahmad Umar

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on Sunday received the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, at the Government House during a traditional Sallah homage marking this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The annual visit, a long-standing cultural tradition, offered the revered monarch the opportunity to felicitate with the governor and citizens of the state on the successful completion of Ramadan, while reinforcing the enduring relationship between the traditional institution and the government.

Speaking during the visit, the Emir commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for what he described as purposeful and visionary leadership, noting that the state has experienced remarkable progress across various sectors under his administration.

“I am proud of you, Your Excellency. Your leadership has brought remarkable transformation to Gombe State. Frankly speaking, since the creation of the state, we have not witnessed this level of development until now,” the monarch stated.

He further recalled the governor’s initial promises upon assuming office, expressing satisfaction that those commitments have not only been fulfilled but surpassed.

“You assured the people you would not fail them, and today, it is clear that you have kept that promise. The people of Gombe are proud of your achievements,” he added.

The Emir also praised the governor’s inclusive governance style, particularly his efforts to engage traditional rulers in decision-making processes, which he said has strengthened peace, unity, and development in the state.

Highlighting key achievements, the monarch pointed to improvements in healthcare, education, infrastructure, energy, and economic development, as well as deliberate efforts to extend development to underserved communities.

He also noted the transformation of Gombe into a modern and attractive city with growing tourism potential.

He cited major projects such as the upgraded Government House, the airport, the Three-Arms Zone, and the Shehu Abubakar District as clear evidence of the administration’s impact.

In his response, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed appreciation to the Emir for his continuous support, guidance, and prayers, describing the relationship between his administration and the traditional institution as vital to the successes recorded so far.

“Our relationship with the traditional institution, especially with His Royal Highness, has remained cordial and productive. I deeply value the support and counsel we receive, which have contributed immensely to the peace and development of our state,” the governor said.

Reflecting on his seven years in office, the governor stated that his administration has laid a strong foundation for sustainable growth, with significant strides in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and economic reforms.

“We came with a clear vision to rebuild and transform Gombe State. Today, we can confidently say that we have made substantial progress across key sectors,” he noted.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya reaffirmed his commitment to delivering lasting legacies that will continue to benefit future generations, emphasising that his administration is focused on long-term impact rather than short-term achievements.

On security, he reiterated that safeguarding lives and property remains a top priority, while also urging residents to sustain the spirit of unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence demonstrated during Ramadan.

The event concluded with the symbolic presentation of the traditional Sallah gift, known as Goron Sallah, to the Emir, followed by a colourful durbar procession featuring the monarch and prominent traditional title holders.
