Truck drivers protest, block Numan-Gombe highway over police brutality
The Yola-Numan road has been blocked by protesting truck drivers.
The protest, which started by 9:00am on Friday, was trailed by chaos that disrupted vehicular movements and caused gridlock for commuters plying the busy Numan-Gombe highway.

The report gathered that, the protect was due to allegations of Police brutality.
An eyewitness travelling with his family, who was held up in the traffic, said the incident had caused passengers travelling on that road to be stranded for hours.
“Protest by truck drivers on Yola-Gombe highway has disrupted vehicular movement. I cannot get close to verify because I am travelling with my family. We have been held up here in the gridlock.
“Police are there negotiating. Someone came and told us that the tyre of a truck was punctured by Police after they had beaten the man to a pulp.
“His phone and money were collected by Police; his vehicle was also dented in several places; so, he is demanding the sum of N40,000; else, his colleagues said, they will not clear from the road,” the source stated.

Other truck drivers, it was learnt, out of solidarity, had parked their trucks in such a way that made the road impassable for other motorists
“The arrival of a Toyota Hilux with about eight policemen in uniform and mufti at the scene about an hour ago has not brought any improvement to the chaos,” the source added.
