3 APC Bauchi Senators Defect to PDP ahead of 2023 Elections
As the 2023 general election draws nearer, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost all its three senators from Bauchi state to opposition parties.
The defections are coming months after the party’s 2023 elections primaries, where the three senators suffered defeat.
The senators are Halliru Dauda (Bauchi Central) Lawal Yahaya Gumau (Bauchi South) Adamu Bulkachuwa (Bauchi North)
Halliru Dauda, the incumbent Senator of Bauchi Central, contested in the state’s governorship primary but lost the ticket to a former Chief of Air Staff, Sadiq Baba Abubakar and defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) after his defeat.

Senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau representing Bauchi South Senatorial District also lost his bid to return to the Senate on the platform of the APC.
He garnered 182 votes as he lost to Shehu Buba Umar, who scored 188.
Adamu Bulkachuwa, representing Bauchi North, scored zero votes in the party’s primary election for his senatorial district as he lost to Siraj Tanko, who scored 189 votes.
