The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has assured that the Nigerian Army remains committed to the welfare of troops, while restating it’s resolve to ensure operational effectiveness.
General Lagbaja made the remarks Tuesday, in Abuja while commissioning the Tukur Buratai (TYB) International Golf Resort and Country Club’s Clubhouse at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Barracks, Asokoro, Abuja.
Commissioning the project on, the COAS, who is also the Grand Patron of the Golf Resort and Country club, emphasized the importance of “Sound Administration”; a key component of his Command Philosophy, noting that under his leadership, the NA will be deliberate in its efforts to enhance both the welfare of its personnel and operational capabilities through relevant development projects, that would act as catalysts to build and propel a lethal force that is combat effective.

The Army Chief averred that a befitting Golf Clubhouse is necessary for the NA, as it offers a point of convergence for golfers and non-golfers to socialize, stressing that the game of golf is fast becoming a part of the Nigerian Army (NA) and that the era of considering it the preserve of some elite few is fast fading away.
The COAS stated that the Army Headquarters will sustain its focus on enhancing NA’s administrative standard by constructing infrastructures and remodeling dilapidated ones to meet international standards, adding that the commissioning marks the beginning of a new chapter in golfing in the NA and will enhance camaraderie in the NA, as well as esprit de corps amongst sister services and other security agencies.
He expressed delight that the Golf Course will soon commence hosting international tournaments, thereby contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality industry.
General Lagbaja averred that the Nigerian Army will continue to focus its energy and resources on actualizing Mr President’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the country.
The Captain of the Club, Major General Samson Jiya thanked the Grand Patron, management and members of TYB Golf Country Club for their commitment and being part of the community of golfers.
He added, that the Course will be a haven for golfers seeking to improve their skills, socialize and create lasting memories.
