Boko Haram kills 389 policemen, wounds 450 others in Borno

The Borno State police commissioner, Abdu Umar has disclosed that 389 policemen were killed with the injuring of 450 others by Boko Haram in the last two years.
According to him, over 30 police stations and 24 barracks were torched in the 13-year insurgency that claimed many lives and property.
Umar disclosed this, at the weekend (Sunday), in Benishek, while the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali was inaugurating police projects to improve the working conditions of policemen.
Besides the killings of personnel, he said several pieces of fighting equipment were either carted away or destroyed by the terrorists.

Umar noted that this informed the police boss to intervene by completing the various police projects in Benishek and at the Police College, Maiduguri.
He added that Governor Babagana Zulum rehabilitated some of the divisional police stations destroyed in seven Local Government Areas (LGAs).
According to him, other renovated structures comprise the residence of the AIG zone 12 and the Police Children’s School, Maiduguri.
He, therefore, assured that the inaugurated projects will be utilized and maintained for an effective policing of various communities.
