Buni Pledges Continued Support to Army in Fight Against Insurgency
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for the military and other security agencies to eliminate insurgency in the state.
The governor made this commitment during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, to Damaturu on Sunday.
Buni praised the military’s efforts in restoring peace and stability across Yobe State, noting that the improved security has allowed residents in all 17 local government areas to move freely and engage in their daily activities.
“The security we now enjoy has enabled the government to implement its policies and programmes without hindrance, improving the lives of our people,” Buni said.
He also emphasized the need for increased border patrols to prevent insurgents from infiltrating and targeting soft and isolated areas.
Lt.-Gen. Oluyede assured the governor of the army’s determination to end insurgency and banditry in the country.
“It is my personal mission to bring this menace to an end as swiftly as possible. I call on our political leaders and Nigerians to support us in achieving this goal,” Oluyede said.
He also pledged to leverage his knowledge of the state’s terrain to intensify efforts against insurgents and commended the Yobe State Government for its consistent support of the military.
