First lady donates gift items, food, lothers to orphanage
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has distributed food stuff, clothes and other household items to Nana Berry Orphanage and Children Home in New Karu, Nasarawa state through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) pet project.
The Senate President’s wife, Mrs Ekaette Akpabio, who presented the items on behalf of the first lady, in company of other wives of Senators, said the motive was to appreciate the Founder of the orphanage, Mrs Aisha Kuami, for her commitment to the children.
According to her, the gesture is part of her humanitarian activities to reach the nation through the RHI that focuses on hospitality, boosting education, and reaching vulnerable women, children and youths.

“We want to thank you. I can only say on behalf of our mother, Oluremi, who sent us to bring a lot of goodies to the children and to thank you for praying for her and President Bola Tinubu and the nation.
“Our mother’s Renewed Hope Initiative is to give hope to the hopeless, give hope to those that are in need, this is what she has started before the official unveiling.
“That is how she will go round the country reaching out to people like you who are taking care of our children; the future generation.’’
She also prayed for the children and urged the founder of the orphanage and workers not to be discouraged while taking care of the children.
“This children will go higher in life. Thank you for doing a good work because it is not easy to take care of other people’s children,’’ she said.
Kuami, who amidst joyful tears received the donation, said she was overwhelmed with the kind gesture of the first lady.
She appreciated the first lady, the president and her team for not neglecting them, adding that it was the first time the home would receive such elaborate kindness.
“ I started with a free school for orphans when I was still in active service before I retired in 2012 and we are 153 now, three has graduated and we ensure that they all learn a skill.
“Since we started, we have never seen this type of kindness; I kept asking myself if this is true, we cannot repay her than to keep praying for her and the success of this present administration.’’
