Funke Akindele, Tunde Olaoye Top Nigeria’s Highest-Grossing Directors of 2024
Nigerian actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, alongside Tunde Olaoye, has been named the highest-grossing director of 2024, with their film “Everybody Loves Jennifer” earning a record-breaking N1.6 billion in Nigerian cinemas.
The announcement was made by Filmone via its official Instagram page, @filmoneng, on Wednesday.
Adebayo Tijani secured the second spot on the list with a combined success from “Beast of Two Worlds: Ajakaju,” “Alakada Bad and Boujee,” and “Farmer’s Bride.”
Kayode Kasum ranked third for his films “Ajosepe,” “All’s Fair in Love,” and “What About Us.”
Odunlade Adekola came in fourth, credited for “Beast of Two Worlds: Ajakaju” and “Lakatabu,” while Adeoluwa Owu clinched fifth place with “Queen Lateefah” and “When Love Strikes.”
Other directors on the list include:
6th place: Toka McBaror for “The Waiter”
7th place: Jack Opukeme for “Farmer’s Bride”
8th place: Bolanle Austen-Peters for “Funmilayo Ransome Kuti”
9th place: Biodun Stephen for “Muri & Ko”
10th place: Omoni Oboli for “Wives on Strike: The Uprising”
