Massive support as President Buhari nominates Hashidu to head NEDC
An astute community builder and international diplomat, Dauda Stanley, has added his voice to supporting the nomination of Dr Umar Hashidu as Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Describing President Buhari’s gesture as ‘magnanimous and ingenious’, Stanley says Hashidu can aptly be described as a round peg in a round hole for the commission’s top job.

Stanley says a cursory gaze at Dr. Hashidu’s awe-inspiring track road of supporting community efforts and bringing succour to the down-and-out masses within his immediate state, Gombe, and other states of the Northeast places him head and shoulders higher than all the other nominees for the position.
Son of the first civilian Governor of Gombe State, Dr Umar Hashidu came from a long line of selfless service to humanity with his father, Abubakar Hashidu of blessed memory, firmly etched in Gombe State’s annals of history and on the hearts of its citizens as their great benefactor and thoroughbred democrat cum public servant of the finest pedigree.
Stanley avers that, “the Northeast has gone through many years of backwardness exacerbated by insurgency, banditry, kidnappings and tribal skirmishes hence the need for a vibrant, physically active and meticulous young man such as Dr Umar Hashidu to prosecute the job of rebuilding, restoring and rehabilitating the northeast.
“With several tooth marks and vestiges of the long drawn insurgency showing in scores of displaced communities/persons, overstretched and threadbare infrastructure, abject multi-dimensional poverty and squalid living conditions of the people of the Northeast it takes an emphatic and compassionate leader such as Dr Umar Hashidu to roll back the years of tears and blood that the region had to succumb to .”
While describing President Buhari’s initiative to establish the North East Development Commission (NEDC) as legacy for posterity, Stanley believes that the masterstroke to preserve and sustain such trans-generational initiative is to put Dr Hashidu at the helm of affairs.
As a community builder with scores of interventions to his name, Diplomat Dauda Stanley has spearheaded and singlehandedly sponsored, (in the northeast) such interventions as drilling of boreholes in rural communities, provision of instructional and learning tools for indigent children, mopping up hundreds of out-of-school children, provision of free scholarships to students of tertiary institutions, and magnanimously granting support for women in agriculture through the instrumentality of his Nongovernmental Organization, Babi Foundation. Stanley says he sees Dr Umar Hashidu as kindred spirit – someone who shares in the lofty ideals of providing altruistic life changing services to humanity that he (Stanley) passionately shares.
Joining hundreds of women and youth groups and associations in the northeast who have lent their unabashed support to the nomination of Dr Umar Hashidu, Stanley says, the job of the Senate has been made easy with the inclusion of such gold fish as Dr Hashidu – “it is no brainer for the National Assembly to spot such a gem as Dr Umar and expedite the process of bringing him on board because he is such a nominee that has ticked all the important boxes as far as the job of reviving the Northeastern states of Borno, Gombe, Yobe, Taraba, Bauchi and Adamawa is concerned.
