The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters on July 8, 2024, four Group Captains were elevated to the esteemed rank of Air Commodore, recognizing their dedication and loyalty to the Service. The honorees, who will commence their retirement from the NAF, were decorated with their new ranks by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, in the presence of their loved ones and colleagues.
The exceptional promotion, granted outside the typical timeline, acknowledges the profound impact these officers have had on the NAF and the nation. The CAS praised their extraordinary dedication, noting that their legacies will endure and continue to inspire the Air Force family.
Among those honored was Air Commodore John Azubuike Opara, celebrated for his outstanding administrative skills, and three NAF Chaplains and Imam, Air Commodores Okechukwu Godson Okoye, David Ajar Ahmadu, and Tahir Bin-Isah, recognized for fostering unity and spiritual well-being within the Service.
