The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has successfully executed an air interdiction mission, delivering a significant blow to terrorist activities in Arina, Southern Tumbuns, Borno State.
The operation, conducted on August 16, 2024, targeted and neutralised several key terrorist leaders and destroyed their structures.
Intelligence had revealed the movement of terrorists into the area, prompting confirmatory surveillance missions on August 12 and 15. The airstrikes launched on August 16 engaged and destroyed numerous terrorist targets, including equipment, vehicles, water vessels, and a suspected medical dispensary.
Director of Public Relations and Information Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet said in a statement that the Battle Damage Assessment revealed that five key terrorist commanders were either killed or severely injured in the strike. The commanders include Munzir Arika, Sani Dilla, Ameer Modu, Dan Fulani Fari Fari, and Bakoura Arina Chiki, along with over 35 other foot soldiers.
The operation has significantly degraded the operational capacity of the remaining terrorists in the region. The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to supporting the efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies in safeguarding the region and ensuring peace and security prevail.
