Police Arrest Dreaded Kidnappers Harassing Yobe Residents

Yobe State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers terrorising communities along the Dapchi-Babangida Corridor in the State
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this on thursday in Damaturu
He said a patrol team from the Dapchi Divisional Police Headquarters arrested two suspects—Babaro Baushe, 40, and Umaru Dau’a, 25, were arrest on April 9, 2025, around 5:00 a.m., along the Damaturu-Gashua highway.
“The suspect took part in the invasion of Badegana village in Bursari Local Government on November 21, 2024.
Moreover, the police also suspect them of kidnapping Kudi Ibrahim from Askuwari village in Tarmuwa Local Government on March 10, 2025.
“During the abduction, the suspects extorted a ransom of N250,000 from their victim,” Abdulkarim noted. He added that both men have made statements to the police regarding their involvement in the crimes.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Christopher Ado, has intensified efforts to capture the remaining members of the kidnapping syndicate.
CP Garba Ado added that the group has operated in the area for two years.
He urged residents of the affected communities to be alert and report unconventional occurrences to law enforcement.
“CP Ado assured that the command remains committed to flushing out criminals and ensuring the safety of all communities in Yobe State.”
The State Investigation Department (SID) in Damaturu are holding the alleged criminals as they continue their inquiry.
