Police nab two suspects for vandalising electric cable rolls in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has nabbed two suspects for vandalising and being in possession of rolls of electrical cables in the Bade Local Council of the state.
According to the Command, Yahaya Mustapha, 28, and Bello Yakubu, 38, were arrested at Waro village, while loading rolls of electric cables into a tricycle.
The Command’s Spokesman, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, stated this on Monday in Damaturu.
“On April 12, at 1:00 p.m., the police from the Karasuwa Divisional Headquarters nabbed Mustapha and Yakubu in Takai ward of the Bade local council, in possession of a large quantity of dismantled power transmission cables that supply electricity to Karasuwa local government areas.
Abdulkarim added that, as the investigation commences, the B Divisional Police Headquarters, while on patrol, also discovered electric service wires hidden in an isolated area of Maisandari ward, Damaturu, stating, “The rolls of electric cables are suspected to have been vandalised by the arrested duo.
According to the spokesman, investigations are being carried out in identifying the source and perpetrators of vandalising the electricity supply facilities.
Similarly, Police Commissioner Christopher Ado reiterated the command’s commitment to fighting vandalism and other crimes.
“Your cooperation is crucial in maintaining public safety and security of people’s lives and property,” he said.
The police chief urged members of the communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities on public properties, including the power supply facilities in the 17 local councils of the state.
