Yobe completes 128.4 kilometres township, housing estates roads

The Yobe State Ministry of Works has completed 128.4 kilometres of township and housing estates’ roads in nine local council areas of the state.
The roads are sited in Nguru, Potiskum, Gashua, Jajimaji, Damagum, Babbangida and Geidam, a border community with Niger.
Unveiling the completed projects on Tuesday at a ministerial media briefing in Damaturu, the Commissioner of Works, Umar Duddaye, disclosed: “The completion of these township roads and drainages has eased the massive haulage of goods and services from the Local Government Areas to markets and grains silos.”
He however; noted that 69 kilometres of roads are ongoing in Tarmuwa, Fune and Nguru councils.

He said that the ongoing projects include Damagum-Gubana, Danchuwa-Garin Bingel, Nguru-Balanguwa, Balanguwa-Kumagannam and Chumbusko-Tagali roads.
Besides the ongoing roads projects, he added that the pedestrian bridges at the modern markets of Nguru, Potiskum and Gashua have also been completed.
According to him, the Damaturu modern cattle market has been completed this year for inauguration by Governor Mai Mala Buni.
On the devastating effects of floods, he said: “We will continue to complement State government efforts by fixing collapsed bridges and washed off roads in the state,” adding that the Katarko Bridge and other roads were rebuilt this month to ease transportation.
