Tukur Abdullahi, Kebbi
The Kebbi State Government has launched a major agricultural and humanitarian initiative, rolling out dry season farming inputs and Ramadan food packages to support farmers and vulnerable residents. To prevent diversion, Governor Comrade Nasir Idris has ordered security agencies to arrest anyone found selling the distributed items.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Governor Idris revealed that 200,000 medium-scale farmers across all 21 local government areas of the state will benefit from the programme. He emphasized that providing farmers with essential inputs will strengthen food security and economic resilience in Kebbi.
The governor urged religious and community leaders, alongside government officials overseeing distribution, to ensure transparency and fairness, ensuring the aid reaches the grassroots.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to boosting agriculture, encouraging all sectors to align with the government’s food security initiatives. He noted that the intervention in Kebbi is aimed at enhancing 2025 dry season farming and increasing food production to combat food insecurity.
Kebbi’s Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Shehu Mu’azu, reiterated the state’s dedication to supporting farmers and easing economic hardship, especially during the dry season and the Ramadan period.
The Key Inputs Distributed: 3,000 Power Tillers, 10,000 Solar-Powered Pumps, 5,000 LPG Pumps, 10,000 Gasoline Pumps and 10,000 Insecticide Sprayers
With this initiative, Kebbi State is reinforcing its position as a key agricultural hub, ensuring farmers receive the necessary tools to drive productivity while also extending humanitarian support to the needy.
