Courage Rewarded: Army Honours Personnel for Rejecting Bribe from Cattle Rustlers
Personnel of the Special Task Force under Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) in the Nigerian Army were recently commended for their integrity and courage in the face of corruption. Eight individuals stationed at OPSH Sector 4 were recognised for declining a hefty 1.5 million bribe offered by suspected cattle rustlers in Plateau State.
The courageous actions unfolded when the troops intercepted 30 rustled cows at the Bisichi checkpoint in Barkin Ladi local government area. The cattle, originally belonging to Shehu Umar and stolen in Mangu, were being illicitly transported to an undisclosed location. Two individuals, Anas Usman aged 20 and Gyang Cholly aged 42, who were in possession of the stolen livestock attempted to bribe the troops during a stop and search operation. However, the troops stood firm in their commitment to uphold the law, refusing the monetary offer and promptly apprehending the suspects along with the bribe money.

During a ceremony where the distinguished personnel were recognised, Major General Abubakar, the commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, emphasised the importance of upholding moral values and displaying bravery in the line of duty. Represented by Brigadier General MO Agi, the Chief of Staff of OPSH, General Abubakar urged all security personnel to follow the exemplary conduct exhibited by the eight individuals and continue to serve with honour and integrity.
