Defence Ministry Pledges Review of 177 Guards Battalion Compensation Claims
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has committed to reviewing the unresolved compensation claims for the 177 Guards Battalion in Keffi.
Dr. Ibrahim Kana, the Permanent Secretary of the MoD, made this announcement on Monday in Abuja during a meeting with the Chairman of Keffi Local Government Council, Mr. Muhammad Shehu, and other council members.
According to a statement from the ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, Kana assured the delegation that the ministry would examine all relevant records before making any decisions regarding the unsettled claims.

“All compensation requests must be backed by the necessary documentation, and we will review the records carefully to address the concerns of the 177 Guards Battalion,” Kana said.
He also highlighted the importance of the military barracks in Keffi, noting the security, developmental, and other benefits it brings to the local community. Kana further reassured the public of the Federal Government’s ongoing commitment to security and essential services across the country.
During the visit, Shehu congratulated Kana on his role as Permanent Secretary, praising his dedication and the MoD’s efforts in collaborating with security agencies to address threats in Nasarawa State.
