Gombe Governor, DIG Ciroma, Strategies for Strengthening Security Post-Protest
In a decisive move to bolster security in the wake of the recent violent protests on August 1, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, welcomed the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) overseeing the Northeast region, Bala Ciroma, on Thursday.
The visit aimed to assess the security landscape and enhance coordination between the police force and state authorities.
Following a private discussion with the Governor, DIG Ciroma addressed the media, stating, “It is part of my responsibility to come around to assess the security situation and to seek areas of cooperation between the respective state governments and police commissioners to enhance security in the states across the Northeast region.”
He emphasised that while Gombe State remains calm, it is essential to strengthen security measures to handle potential threats, not only in response to protests but also to address other criminal activities that could arise in the region.
Governor Yahaya expressed his appreciation for DIG Ciroma’s proactive stance, reaffirming the Gombe State Government’s dedication to collaborating with law enforcement agencies to uphold peace and security.
The governor underscored his administration’s ongoing commitment to fostering a safe environment that supports growth and development, noting that the recent unrest has been effectively contained, allowing daily life to resume smoothly across the state.
