Gombe State Rolls Out Massive Food Relief for Vulnerable Citizens Amid Economic Hardship
In a significant move to alleviate the ongoing economic hardship, the Gombe State government has dispatched truckloads of essential food items to all 11 local government areas (LGAs) of the state for distribution to the most vulnerable citizens.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Director General of Press Affairs, Mr. Sama’ila Uba Misilli, made available to newsmen in Gombe on Thursday.
“This initiative follows the directive of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who continues to prioritise the welfare of the people.
“Each LGA has been allocated 1,000 bags of 50 kg sorghum, 1,000 bags of 25 kg rice, and 1,000 cartons of spaghetti pasta, ensuring that a broad section of the population benefits from this vital support.
“In addition to the LGA allocations, the state government will distribute an extra 5,000 bags each of rice and sorghum, along with 5,000 cartons of spaghetti pasta, to various groups, including faith-based organisations, civil society groups, trade unions, and student unions like the Gombe State Students Association (GOSSA) and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
“Others are Tsangaya and Almajiri schools, youth and women groups, and people living with disabilities are also set to receive special consideration, as directed by the Governor.
“This distribution is part of a broader effort by the Gombe State government to support its citizens during challenging times. Governor Yahaya has consistently implemented effective measures aimed at fostering social stability and resilience in the face of economic difficulties.
The governor also expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued interventions and initiatives to address the economic challenges facing the nation during this period.
