The Nigerian Army has promoted Second Lieutenant Princess Oluchukwu Owowo to the substantive rank of Lieutenant, as authorized by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja. The decoration ceremony took place on June 26, 2024, at the Nigerian Defence Academy Officer’s Mess and Golf Club.
Lieutenant Princess Oluchukwu Owowo, a distinguished officer, has made history as the first female Nigerian to be trained at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. She graduated from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and excelled during her cadet days, demonstrating exceptional leadership and military skills.
Major General JO Ochai, the NDA Commandant, praised Lieutenant Owowo’s exceptional track record during her cadet days, which earned her the distinction of being the first female Nigerian to be trained at Sandhurst. He also congratulated her on her well-deserved promotion to the new rank.
