Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade Celebrates WASA, as GOC Commends Troops’ Operational Successes
The Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade has celebrated the annual West African Social Activities (WASA) event, commemorating the year’s achievements and recognizing the bravery and professionalism of its troops.
Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, was the special guest of honor at the event, held at Effurum Barracks in Warri, Delta State. He praised the troops for their operational successes, particularly in combating illegal bunkering and economic sabotage in the Niger Delta Region (NDR).
The GOC attributed the division’s achievements to the troops’ military competences and dogged professionalism. He commended the Commander 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, and his officers and men for their remarkable performance and successes.
Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, also attended the event, commending the military’s role in maintaining peace and security in the NDR. He assured that his government would continue to support the military’s efforts to ensure peaceful coexistence in the state.
The WASA celebration featured a range of activities, including cultural dances, calisthenics displays, and a tug-of-war competition. The event also included the commissioning of a Museum project at the barracks and the presentation of awards to deserving personnel.
