TCN Vows North East Power Restored Next week
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reiterated its commitment to restoring power supply to the region by May 27th 2024.
This comes after vandals damaged four transmission towers, causing significant disruptions.
“We understand the difficulties this lack of power brings,” said Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, General Manager, Public Affairs for TCN.
“We are working tirelessly to rebuild the towers and will not rest until power is back in all affected areas.”
TCN acknowledged the concerns of the North East Governors Forum (NEGF) and expressed empathy for the challenges faced by residents and businesses.
The company emphasised its unwavering efforts despite recent setbacks due to vandalism.
“We have mobilised all necessary resources to ensure a swift resolution,” Mbah continued.
“On-site machines are expediting the fabrication of tower members, and construction is progressing well.”
Transparency was key in Mbah’s update. She revealed the current completion stages of each tower, ranging from 40% to 90%.
While acknowledging security limitations preventing night work, TCN is maximising daylight hours to stay on schedule.
The target date of May 27th hinges on the completion of a new 330KV transmission line. Once operational, Yola and Jos DisCos will be able to resume optimal distribution of electricity from TCN substations.
“We are confident and committed to completing this project within the timeframe,” Mbah concluded. “We are here to serve the nation, and we eagerly await the day power is restored across the North East.“
