Your activities in Billiri unconstitutional, NNPP chieftains tell party chairman in Gombe
Chieftains of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State, on Monday cautioned the state leadership of the party against imposition of executives in the LG.
The group in a news conference in Gombe accused the acting chairman, Mr Rambi Ayala of instigating the imposition which they said would destroy the party if continued.
Mr Amatiga Naboth, the spokesperson of the group who was accompanied by seven NNPP ward chairmen out of the 10 in the LG said attempt to remove the constitutionally elected chairman would spell doom for the party.
Naboth who is the secretary of NNPP stakeholders in the LG while reading the communiquè of the meeting of NNPP executives and members held on Saturday in Billiri urged the national secretariat to call Ayala to order.

He said that a meeting convened by Mr Hamma Tanimu in Baganje in Billiri without the knowledge of the party chairman at the LG, contravened the extant provisions of Article 10(B)(11) of NNPP constitution.
“It is instructive to note that our great party is built on democratic, constitutional norms, for the purpose of building an egalitarian society, anchored on the principles of equality, freedom and social justice.
“Our party prioritises transparency, peace and reconciliation. We are bounded in love, political stability as enshrined under Article 61- 23 of our Constitution 2022.
“We view the purported meeting convened at the residence of Mr. Hamma Tanimu on February 28 as inciting, rapacious, a calculated attempt at instigating crisis and division within our dear party.
“No one can instigate any meeting purporting to deliberate on our party’s affairs without the consent of our LGC Chairman Elder Ambrose Mairungu and his executives,” he said.
Naboth called on the national body of the party to stop Ayala from parading himself as the acting chairman of the party since he had violated the provisions of their constitution.
According to Naboth, who was the House of Assembly candidate for Billiri West State Constituency in the 2023 election, the NNPP executives at the LG in Billiri has passed a vote of no confidence in Ayala.
In his response, Ayala said the claims by the group was false, describing it as an attempt to discourage the ongoing efforts at repositioning the party for victory in 2027 and the upcoming Local
Government elections in the state.
He said he had the backing of the national body of his party to reposition the party and he had been doing so within the ambit of their constitution.
He said that the opposition party in the state was sponsoring the group because they had seen the reformation of the party and the good fortunes such move would bring to NNPP in 2027.
According to him, all allegations of anti-party levelled against him are politically-motivated by opposition party to cause crisis in NNPP.
“But we are rock-solid and poised for greatness, there is no stopping NNPP in Gombe State,” he said.
Ayala called on all party members to remain focused, peaceful and united, urging them to resist any attempt at causing disharmony amongst them going into 2027 general elections.
