Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has approved the rehabilitation of the Uba General Hospital and eight primary schools to boot healthcare delivery and education in Askira/Uba Local Council.
According to him, the schools to be rehabilitated are located at Mufa, Kuma, Kwarghi, Mufa B, Masil, and the Uba Marghi community along Askira road.
Zulum announced the rehabilitation of schools and a hospital on Saturday at the palace of Emir of Uba, Alhaji Ali Ibn Ismaila Mamza.
Piqued by the state of the palace, the governor pledged to construct a new one that fits a first-class emir in the border community with Cameroon.
Besides rehabilitating the hospital, the governor also directed the Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Prof. Babagana Mallam Gana, to employ four medical doctors that will manage the hospital in the delivery of healthcare services.
“You have to undertake a complete rehabilitation of the hospital, provide furniture, and also ensure adequate teachers are deployed to the schools to be rehabilitated this year,” he charged.
Zulum was in the South Borno Senatorial District to assess the ongoing projects and coordinate their implementations, including the citing of additional projects for completion, before commissioning.
During the two-working days, he visited Central Primary School, a newly constructed high Islamic school, the Uba General Hospital, and Government Day Secondary School, Uvu, where he assessed both the ongoing work and the level of the interventions required for various rehabilitations to be carried out.
In overcoming the challenges of potable water, Zulum directed the construction of a borehole for the High Islamic College, Uba.
While in Uvu village, he ordered the construction of a new secondary school with the rehabilitation of the Central Primary School.
He concluded his visit by paying homage to the Emir of Askira, Alhaji Albdullahi Mohammed Askirama.
