Northeast Star Magazine to honour COAS with Collin Powell’s Meritorious Award for Soldiering

The management of Northeast Star Magazine has disclosed its decision to honour the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Faruk Yahaya with the prestigious Collin Powell’s Meritorious Award for Soldiering.
This was contained in a letter of notification signed by the Publisher of Northeast Star Magazine, Dr. Abubakar Mohammed, and addressed to the COAS.

According to Dr. Mohammed, Lt-Gen Yahaya will be honoured with the prestigious Collin Powell’s Meritorious Award for Soldiering because of his outstanding ongoing fight against insurgents and other Terrorism activities in the country.
Recall that Lt-Gen Yahaya was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on May 27 to replace Lt-Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, who died in an air crash alongside 10 other officers, on May 21, while on an official trip to Kaduna State.

Until his appointment as the COAS, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya was the Theatre Commander Operation HADIN KAI, responsible for Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency operations in North East Nigeria.
The award presentation is scheduledΥ to take place on the 20th of November, 2021 in Yola, Adamawa State.
